Competency Assessment in Photography

The Photoworld Manila Assessment Center (PMAC) recently conducted its first Competency Assessment in Photography NCII, facilitated by lead assessor, Alexis Rillera, a multimedia arts/digital imaging technology instructor and program coordinator at the Skills Development Institute-Lorma Colleges in La Union, together with assessor Maridel M. Teves (an alumna of Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation or FPPF), now an event/wedding photographer of her own studio iLarawan Photography and Prints).

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Competency Assessment determines an individual’s skill, knowledge, and attitude in a certain qualification. A national certificate which is recognized globally is given to a competent skilled individual who meets the competency standards of qualification.

The competency Assessment in Photography NCII process is collecting the evidence of one’s skills, knowledge, and attitude in photography. Guided with the standards of TESDA’s Training Regulation, through its core competencies, operate a camera and compose the subject; set up studio lights, equipment, and accessories; perform post-capture processing; and present finished product. Having NCII aids one in promotion, increase in salary or PF rate and also a requirement in employment abroad such as in cruise ship. Some hobbyists take NCII in photography for their self-evaluation. Having a national certificate makes an individual a cut above the rest.

PMAC is a sister company of FPPF. Visit for more details.
