Myrtle in the main cast of 'Voltes V?'
Actress Myrtle Sarrosa, also famous for doing cosplay, has just transferred to GMA-7. The question being brought up now is: Is she cast in the network’s upcoming live action remake of the Japanese anime series “Voltes V: Legacy?”
In an interview, the actress-host-singer admitted she did audition for a role, presumably that of Jamie Robnson, a main character in the story.
“Sana mabigyan ako ng role du’n kas madaming nag-audition. Fan din naman talaga ako ng ‘Voltes V,’” she said.
“Voltes V” is a Japanese animation TV series that was popular in the Philippines in the ‘80s. The five main characters are tasked to pilot the robot Voltes V to defend the earth from evil Bozanian invasion.
According to a report aired on”24 Oras,” the staff has already picked the actor who would play the lead character, Steve. It was also announced that today is meant for auditions in search of the actor to play the character Big Bert. Rounding up the five-member team of “Voltes V” are the characters Mark Gordon and “Little” Jon Armstrong.
Whether she gets a part or not on the series, Myrtle is happy to have made the leap to GMA.
“GMA has welcomed me warmly and tiwala ako na alam nila ‘yung nararapat na projects na ibigay sa’kin. And besides, noong umpisa lang, nagbukas na sila ng maraming opportunities for me.”
Recall that the 25-year-old was discovered via reality TV show aired on another network. She was under contract with them for eight years before turning Kapuso.
Myrtle said it wasn’t an easy decision.
“Three years ago actually na-consider ko ng mag-explore ng other opportunities but I wasn’t really ready at that time,” she said. “Kaya parang natagalan din for me to decide because I don’t want to burn any bridges. Ayokong makasakit ng ibang tao and gusto ko na maging maayos ang pag-alis ko sa kanila.
“Ako kasi, I really believe na ang puso ko nasa GMA. I’m so grateful na God opened doors for me to meet people and ngayon na nakapagpaalam na ako ng maayos (sa aking previous network) before signing my contract, I know po na mamahalin po talaga ako ng chosen network ko.”
Myrtle dismissed notion that her decision to transfer was fueled by the pending franchise renewal of the other network. She firmly said all her moves are just “coincidental” when it comes to that.
This is her now
Myrtle is now part of GMA’s “Bubble Gang.” She also finished shooting an episode of “Tadhana” with Jak Roberto.
“Sobrang bait ng lahat ng na-meet ko na mga artist dito. Sa shooting ng ‘Bubble Gang,’ sobrang warm ng pag-welcome nila sa’kin. Ang dami naming kalokohang ginawa, nagtatawanan kami. Sobrang na-enjoy ko ‘yung company ng mga artists doon,” she said.
Myrtle wants to play character or kontrabida roles in the future. She hopes to collaborate with Julie Anne San Jose for music project.
How about a leading man?
Well, she’s eager to work with no less than Alden Richards.
However, fans can’t ship them in real life as Myrtle is dating a non-showbiz guy for years now.
